Born from a Divine
Encounter

Faith Healing Bible Church began not as a plan — but as an obedience.

In 1987, Pastor Francis A.M. Mambu returned to Freetown, Sierra Leone following a divine call to service. On his first night back, the Lord instructed him to embark on a twenty-one day period of fasting and prayer. At the conclusion, he received a clear mandate: "Go and reach out to the lost souls, heal the sick, cast out demons, and set the captives free, for My people are perishing."

On June 27, 1987, the fellowship visited Connaught Hospital in Freetown and prayed over 30 patients awaiting surgical procedures. When they returned on Monday, 27 of those patients had been completely healed and discharged. Only three remained — those who had already undergone surgery before the prayers. It was an undeniable testament to the power of God.

On July 26, 1987, Faith Healing Bible Church was officially inaugurated with 15 members at Model Secondary School in Freetown. The church subsequently relocated several times before establishing its permanent headquarters at Walmsley Lane, off Berry Street in Freetown. Today the congregation numbers in the thousands.

The ministry now operates branches across Sierra Leone and internationally in Liberia, The Gambia, Nigeria, Canada, and the United States — including our DMV chapter here in Alexandria, Virginia, serving the West African diaspora community.

Our Holy Mandate

Mission & Vision

Our Mission Statement

Reaching the Lost, Healing the Sick, and Setting the Captives Free

The mission of Faith Healing Bible Church is centered on four foundational pillars that guide its spiritual purpose and activities. The first pillar, evangelism, reflects a deep and unwavering commitment to spreading the message of Jesus Christ. The church prioritizes reaching individuals who have not yet encountered the Gospel, both within local communities and beyond national borders. This effort is marked by urgency, compassion, and persistence, emphasizing the belief that every soul is valuable and deserves the opportunity to hear and respond to the message of salvation.

The second pillar focuses on healing and deliverance, addressing the holistic needs of individuals. The church ministers not only to spiritual concerns but also to emotional and physical well-being. Through prayer and faith, it emphasizes the belief in divine intervention and miracles, affirming that God’s power is active and unchanged. By referencing past demonstrations of God’s work, the church reinforces confidence that healing and transformation remain possible in the present day, encouraging believers to trust in God for restoration in all areas of life.

Discipleship forms the third pillar and highlights the importance of spiritual growth and maturity. The church is committed to teaching the Word of God in a way that nurtures believers and strengthens their faith. This involves guiding individuals to develop a deeper understanding of Scripture, cultivating disciplined spiritual practices, and fostering a strong moral and theological foundation. Additionally, discipleship includes leadership development, preparing a new generation of individuals who are confident in their faith, knowledgeable in biblical teachings, and capable of serving effectively in ministry roles.

The fourth pillar, global outreach, expands the church’s mission beyond its immediate environment. Faith Healing Bible Church actively works to spread the Gospel internationally, establishing and supporting branches in multiple countries. This global presence reflects a commitment to fulfilling the Great Commission by reaching diverse populations across different regions. By maintaining active ministries in countries such as Liberia, The Gambia, Nigeria, Canada, and the United States, the church demonstrates its dedication to cross-cultural evangelism and its vision of a worldwide impact.

Together, these four pillars—evangelism, healing and deliverance, discipleship, and global outreach—form a comprehensive mission that addresses both individual transformation and collective expansion. The church’s approach integrates spiritual care, education, and outreach, aiming to bring people into a relationship with God, support their ongoing growth, and extend its influence across nations. This holistic framework ensures that its mission remains balanced, purposeful, and aligned with its core beliefs.

Our Vision Statement

A World Transformed by the Supernatural Power of God

Faith Healing Bible Church envisions a world transformed by the power of the Gospel — where the lost are found, the sick are healed, the oppressed are delivered, and every nation has heard the name of Jesus Christ proclaimed with signs and wonders following. We see a church that continues to grow in spiritual depth, numerical strength, and global influence, raising up a mighty generation of disciples, healers, and soul-winners who carry the fire of God to the ends of the earth.

We envision Faith Healing Bible Church as a leading centre of Kingdom advancement — a house of prayer, a place of supernatural encounter, and a training ground for Spirit-filled leadership. Through our expanding network of local and international branches, our Grafton Retreat and Conference Grounds, and our ongoing investment in ministry development, we are building a legacy that outlasts any single generation — a church that remains anchored to its founding mandate while continuously reaching new frontiers for the glory of God.

Our vision is not merely a larger church — it is a greater harvest. Reaching the Lost. Healing the Sick. Delivering the Captives. Transforming the Nations — all for the Glory of God. ▪
